India’s biodiversity crisis

As always the Ministry’s singular focus on megafauna, like tigers, has had repercussions for the millions of other species that have not been on the watch list here.

India’s phenomenal natural assets are the key to its very success economically, for without them the country’s ecological security will undoubtedly collapse, and yet it seems, even when we now know the real value of ‘Nature’s capital’ to humanity, its prepared to sacrifice this capital on the altar of development and capitalism. Natural capital can be the basis on which you create millions of new nature-based jobs, enterprises, and livelihoods.
