LATEST TRAVEL NEWS IN INDIA

India has far fewer coronavirus cases than many other developed countries, but the country is acting faster and sooner than many now.

  • CURFEW IMPOSED ON SUNDAY 22nd MARCH

There is to be a 7 AM to 9 PM curfew for the whole country on Sunday 22nd March.  Like UK and Europe, social distancing is being called for too, and senior citizens between 65 and 70 to stay at home. (what happens to the others over 70 I have no idea!).  Do expect such curfews to become the norm going forward.

  • ALL INTERNATIONAL FLIGHTS STOPPED

All scheduled international flights will be stopped from 22nd March for one week. No foreigners or Indians allowed in. Expect this to be extended.

  • RAILWAYS & GOVERNMENT ENTERPRISES

Large scale reduced services must be expected, with rotating staff.

  • PARKS AND TIGER RESERVES

Most will be closed till the 31st March, under present restrictions. Expect them to be closed for longer.

  • WORKING FROM HOME

Like the rest of the world, businesses are asking their workforce to stay and work from home. This is potentially much more difficult in India than in other parts of the world, with WiFi, electrical supplies, and other services being less speedy or reliable.
